I had just graduated college, just gotten my first real job, and bought this overly priced Nike sweatshirt. I also was drowning in student loan debt with my grace period ending soon&#8230; So I felt guilty for buying this sweatshirt in the first place&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">Anyway, I instantly texted this photo to my mom (love that lady) with every sad faced emoji I could find. And thus&#8230; the ultimate stain removing technique was born!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-cyan-bluish-gray-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:11px\">This post may contain affiliate links, which means I\u2019ll receive a commission if you purchase through my link, at no extra cost to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 1<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Put a small dab of Dawn dish soap on each stain. Gently rub it around with your finger, rag, or toothbrush. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe style=\"width:120px;height:240px;\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"\/\/ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/widgets\/q?ServiceVersion=20070822&amp;OneJS=1&amp;Operation=GetAdHtml&amp;MarketPlace=US&amp;source=ss&amp;ref=as_ss_li_til&amp;ad_type=product_link&amp;tracking_id=kateynicole-20&amp;language=en_US&amp;marketplace=amazon&amp;region=US&amp;placement=B01H7DFM32&amp;asins=B01H7DFM32&amp;linkId=cd54ecb9e35b2573be6addc2c8157c69&amp;show_border=true&amp;link_opens_in_new_window=true\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Be very gentle. If you scrub too hard, you might end up pushing the stain farther into the fabric. Soap creates a micelle around dirt and oil, which is how the stain will get lifted from the fabric. You can use a small amount of water if you need deeper action. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After gently rubbing the stains with Dawn dish soap, let this set for 30 to 60 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Squirt on some Zout onto each stain. Again, gently rub this into the fabric but with intentions of lifting the stain, not setting it in. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let this set for another 60 minutes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe style=\"width:120px;height:240px;\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"\/\/ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/widgets\/q?ServiceVersion=20070822&amp;OneJS=1&amp;Operation=GetAdHtml&amp;MarketPlace=US&amp;source=ss&amp;ref=as_ss_li_til&amp;ad_type=product_link&amp;tracking_id=kateynicole-20&amp;language=en_US&amp;marketplace=amazon&amp;region=US&amp;placement=B002Y6AYBS&amp;asins=B002Y6AYBS&amp;linkId=51f636cebe479a81c117b60541f72692&amp;show_border=true&amp;link_opens_in_new_window=true\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Launder the article of clothing like normal. At this point, the soap and Zout should have bound to the oil, dirt, or grease and will be removed. If you want to give your laundry detergent an extra boost, try adding in some Borax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For this particular sweatshirt, I used my go-to Arm &amp; Hammer laundry detergent. However, if I would have know about the cleaning powers of Powdered Tide at the time, then I definitely would have used that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe style=\"width:120px;height:240px;\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"\/\/ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/widgets\/q?ServiceVersion=20070822&amp;OneJS=1&amp;Operation=GetAdHtml&amp;MarketPlace=US&amp;source=ss&amp;ref=as_ss_li_til&amp;ad_type=product_link&amp;tracking_id=kateynicole-20&amp;language=en_US&amp;marketplace=amazon&amp;region=US&amp;placement=B01BHSTN8S&amp;asins=B01BHSTN8S&amp;linkId=cb2f7fd283f802136aa9f7d352da5f8e&amp;show_border=true&amp;link_opens_in_new_window=true\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Powdered Tide has a variety of different surfactants in it which is why it is a cleaning machine. Surfactants help reduce the surface tension of water, which allows for emulsification of the gunk you&#8217;re trying to remove. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now would be a great time to break out the Powdered Tide!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">And Boom!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/kateynicole.com\/staging\/5768\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/IMG_4158.jpg?w=1100&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-475\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This should be all it takes to remove new and set in stains. If there are stains still lingering after the article has been washed, repeat this process.
